West Michigan Lutheran High School offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities and organizations designed to help students discover new interests, develop valuable skills, and learn the importance of teamwork and leadership.
While offerings may change as student interests grow and evolve, one commitment remains constant: every WMLHS student is encouraged and able to participate. As a rule, we do not impose cuts or non-academic barriers to involvement, ensuring opportunities are accessible to all.
Our extracurricular programs include both school-based and partner-supported opportunities in athletics, drama, music, parent boosters, student council, Faith in Full Action (FIFA) prayer group, National Honor Society, Science Day, and community service initiatives.
Mustang Boosters
The Mustang Boosters are a parent-led group that raises money to fund the extracurricular activities at West Michigan Lutheran School.
Your gifts are an integral part of the needed support to fund our mission to “Educate Hearts and Minds in the Truth of God’s Word to the Glory of Jesus Christ.”
If you have questions about the Mustang Boosters, or want to get involved, please contact the school office at 616.455.2200.
GENERAL SPONSORSHIP:
Your support of Mustang Boosters helps provide extracurricular opportunities that enrich the lives of our students and glorify God through teamwork, service, and excellence.
Athletics
At WMLHS, the athletic program serves as a means to support and carry-out the mission of the school. As an extension of the classroom, athletics allow students to compete, to achieve goals, and to become well-rounded young men and women of strong moral character, consistent with the school’s Christian tradition.
We are a member of the
Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA)
If your child will be participating in athletics at West Michigan Lutheran, they must have a Sports Physical on file with the school office prior to the beginning of the sport’s season.

MUSIC AND ART
We are often asked about the importance of music and art in schools and why these academic classes and extracurricular programs are worth supporting. Research consistently shows that students who participate in music and art demonstrate higher academic achievement, improved math performance, higher ACT scores, and decreased at-risk behaviors. For us, these outcomes affirm the value of providing a well-rounded, Christ-centered education.
Music and art offer students meaningful opportunities to develop creativity, discipline, collaboration, and confidence—skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Through performance, visual expression, and creative exploration, students learn to communicate thoughtfully, problem-solve, and appreciate God’s gifts in themselves and others.
At WMLHS, we believe music and art enrich the educational experience and strengthen our school community. Whether through academic offerings or extracurricular involvement, these programs play a vital role in nurturing students’ talents and supporting their growth academically, socially, and spiritually. Continued support helps ensure these opportunities remain available for our students now and in the future.
